Save Energy and Money Today:
According to the US Department of Energy;

Heating and cooling account for about 56% of the energy use in a typical U.S. home, making it the largest energy expense for most homes.  Did you know that
the typical U.S. Family spends more than $1,600 a year on home utility bills? Unfortunately, a large portion of that energy is wasted. And electricity generated
by fossil fuels for a single home puts more carbon dioxide into the air than two average cars.

The key to achieving savings in your home is a whole-house energy efficiency plan. To take a whole-house approach, view your home as an energy system
with interdependent parts. Energy-efficient improvements not only make your home more comfortable, they can yield long-term financial rewards. Reduced
utility bills more than make up for the higher price of energy-efficient appliances and improvements over their lifetimes. In addition, your home could bring in a
higher price when you sell.

In addition to using thermography during an energy audit, you should have a scan done before purchasing a house; even new houses can have
defects in their thermal envelopes. You may wish to include a clause in the contract requiring a thermographic scan of the house. A thermographic scan
performed by a certified technician is usually accurate enough to use as documentation in court proceedings

The pictures above show interior views of missing insulation.
Each of these wall 'were insulated' but as we can clearly demonstrate the insulation is insufficient.
The pictures above show exterior views of homes which were insulated.
Improper installation and sealing show a lot of heat loss when looked at with an IR camera.
Most doors we look at have air leakage on the
bottom but sometimes the door is as big a problem
as the draft.

The door on the left is a 1950s wood paneled door.
As you can see the door provides very little
insulation and should be replaced.

The door on the right is a 1980s era door. When
compared to the surrounding area the door is doing
an adequate job of keeping the cold air out but
there is a significant draft at the bottom.
